Creating Your Legacy

History tells our stories and enriches our lives.  History connects us to our roots, imparts meaning to the present and inspires us to set a course for the future.  History is a common bond - ours to keep, explore and enjoy.

Minnesotans have a proud tradition of preserving and passing on their stories for the education and enrichment of future generations.  As today's stewards of history, we can take pride in carrying on Minnesota's time-honored commitment that history matters.  The history we save and the history we make will be our legacy to the future.

You are invited to partner with the Minnesota Historical Society to collect, preserve and record history by becoming a member of our Minnesota Legacy Society through a current or deferred gift to the Society's endowment.  Your gift will provide ongoing support for the Society's programs and benefit future generations.

Benefits for Family and the Minnesota Historical Society

There are several ways to plan a gift for the Minnesota Historical Society.  Often, a surprisingly small amount of money can be maximized through a charitable remainder trust, will provision, or other deferred giving options.

Hiram and Ada Drache
Valued members and friends, Hiram and Ada Drache, are numbered among those who have been rightly called our "Greatest Generation." Hiram and Ada's life-long belief in the importance of history to the quality of human life, has led them to create a legacy of support for the Comstock House in Moorhead, Minnesota. More on Hiram and Ada Drache >>.

Model Railroader - Model Citizen ---All aboard!
Art Bergstrom a longtime member and volunteer, now adds Legacy Society member to his growing list of contributions to the Minnesota Historical Society. More on Model Railroader - Model Citizen ---All aboard! >>.

A Charitable Gift Annuity from the Schwartaus
John and Bernice Schwartau, along with their daughter, Judy, have elected to support the Minnesota Historical Society with a pooled named endowment fund, which they have established with two charitable gift annuities. More on A Charitable Gift Annuity from the Schwartaus >>.

A Unitrust from the DeLeos
Annual donors since 1976, Richard and Shirley decided that they wanted to leave a lasting legacy at the Society. They created the Richard and Shirley DeLeo Fund for Historic Sites, which they are funding with current gifts and will supplement through a charitable remainder unitrust.
