Your Minnesota Legacy

Family and Individual Named Legacy Funds

Your values can be extended beyond your lifetime through a Named Legacy Fund.

Named Legacy Funds can be established through an estate plan (will, Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Trust, etc), or through current gifts. A minimum of $10,000 will establish a Named Pooled Legacy Fund. A gift of $50,000 will create a Family Named Legacy Fund supporting that part of our service most important to you.

Individual Named Legacy Funds

Individual Named Legacy Funds can be created with a current or future planned gift of $50,000 or more. Development staff members work with donors to create a tailor-made fund that provides support for an aspect of the Society's work that is of special interest to the donor or for the general support of the Society.

Program Pooled Legacy Funds

Donors can create a Named Legacy Fund within one of the many program pooled funds approved by the Society's Executive Council with current or future funds.

Special Legacy Funds

Specially designed Family/Individual Named Legacy Funds require a minimum commitment of $250,000.

You are urged to contact a member of the Development Staff who can assist you in realizing your estate or current gift plans, or to request a copy of our current Endowment Brochure.

There are many programs at the Minnesota Historical Society you can choose to support by creating a personal Legacy Fund based on your specific interests.

Your interest may be in discovering your personal family history through genealogical research. Or you may support our extensive educational program, exemplified by the widely used Northern Lights curriculum.

Or you may have other interests. Below is a list of program areas that a Family/Individual Named Legacy Funds can support. You can find more information about these programs by exploring the MHS website.
